Oops, I Blinked!

Wow, that was fast... Spring Break is over. Sad. I played the game of procrastination this week... avoiding all studies but continually thinking, "I should really work on that paper". (sigh) Oh well, there's still a few days until I go back to class. I'll get stuff done before then - or will I? :)

So my room mate works for a Nazi type restaurant called Outback, right? I'm talking the uniform needs to be pressed properly and you have to take exams before you go out on the floor. Well, the good part about the job is that he can go to any affiliated restaurant and get a certain percentage off the bill. For instance, if there are two people eating (including him) then the meals are discounted 50%!!! The amount of the discount is less and less the more people at the table. So, we've checked out Carrabba's, Bonefish and Outback. I say we because he doesn't have any other friends but me... which is cool because I reap the benefits of his discount. Here's the low down on the places we've been. Carrabba's so far wins the race - great food, great service.... enjoyed it a lot. Bonefish is a new fish restaurant which was fine but it was kind of shoo shoo foo. That's a saying I made up long ago for the fancey smancey type people, places or things. Shoo shoo foo... say it with me... shoo shoo fooo. It's fun to say isn't it? Shoo shoo foo. Feel free to use it, just know I'm in the process of trademarking the phrase per Donald Trump's advice. So, the problem I have with fish being served all shoo shoo foo is that fish isn't really that kind of food. Fish ain't shoo shoo foo. Maybe it's the New England in me but I prefer it to be served in a rougher kind of setting... tacky fish nick nacks, greasey fried foods in baskets, checkered table clothes, free meal on your birthday... and all those other things that make it a great dining experience. So, back to Bonefish, the meal was good but the whole scene wasn't clicking for me. Tonight we went to Outback. Not the one Ben works at but another one and it wasn't really the greatest setting plus the waiter was lame-o. BUT we ate a ton of food for...... $15.00!!!! How cool is that discount?! I mean, I ate until I was almost stuffed. Blooming Onion, Salad, Bread, Meal, side of Aussie Chips, even ate some of Ben's left over Aussie Chips. And he was boo hooing on the way out of the restaurant about how he ate too much, his stomache was so full, etc.... Guess my stomach runs the length of my leg and his is the size of a pea. Restaurant is a silly word. Look at it... go ahead, I'll wait. See? Isn't it strange looking. And how about the definition? Here it is: A place where people sit and eat meals that are cooked and served on the premises. Now, couldn't my house be a restaurant? I cook and serve meals that are eaten here. Does that mean I need to check with the city and get a license to cook and serve meals? Am I going to need to be handicap accesible? Some one needs to work on that definition.... add something about paying for the food that was cooked and served. Okay enough blogging, I gotta go study.... maybe.

PS Thanks for the discount Ben - you rock.
